Despite President Obama's warning to Republican leaders not to listen to Rush Limbaugh if they want to accomplish anything, Republicans this week have made two extremely smart moves. Number One: Every Republican in the House of Representatives voted against Obama's "stimulus" bill, although the bill was passed by the Democratic majority the Republicans stood firm against this pork-laden bill. Together as one man they stood up and told Obama: this is completely on you, we'll be here to pick up the pieces when it fails.
Number Two: Just this afternoon former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele was elected to the RNC chairmanship, this will hopefully mark the return of the party to its Conservative past. And for extra credit we get to taunt the Democrats now, why? Michael Steele is black, last time I checked the "Black Party" was run by a rich white boy from the state of Vermont...and yes Mr. Obama "we'll trump you on that!"

Insanity!

Apparently the old saying that "Congress doesn't get it" is truer than ever, the very fact that the House missed passing the $700 billion bailout bill by only a 228-205 margin proves that these elected officials don't give a darn what the American people want. When 70% (and I'm willing to bet even more) of the American people disapprove of something it seems like Congress should listen and even more importantly the President should.
I was disappointed when Bush tried to get an amnesty bill for illegal aliens passed, any respect I had for the man has disappeared after he announced his support for this bailout bill. President Bush must believe that his legacy isn't tarnished enough or perhaps he has just gone mad.
While I was happy that the bill went down in defeat I was disheartened to hear both Democrat and Republican leaders announce that they will try again. My take on this bailout plan? The banks made the mistakes let the banks fix them, if they can't then they deserve to crash, maybe a depression is what this country needs.

On the plus side I heard of another bill introduced to the House, this one sponsored by Tom Tancredo (Republican Representative from Colorado). The bill? This bill would evict the United Nations from the United States, sell all property of the UN to the highest bidder and use that money to help pay off the national debt and also bar the UN from buying any land in the future.
“The U.N. has coddled brutal dictators, anti-Semites, state sponsors of terrorism, and nuclear proliferators – while excluding democratic countries from membership and turning a blind eye to humanitarian tragedies and gross violations of human rights around the globe,” Tancredo said. “The U.N.’s continued presence in the United States is an embarrassment to our nation, and the time has come for this ineffective organization to pack its bags and hit the road.”
Way to go, Tom. Now here's a man who should be President!

McCain/Palin '08

I haven't said much on the upcoming presidential election since it became obvious that John McCain was going to be the Republican candidate. Indeed I wasn't even really paying attention to the coverage until the convention kicked off. My first reaction to McCain's selection as our candidate was one of outrage that this was the best we could do, I having voted for Romney in the primary, a vote which if I could I would withdraw. All I can say is I acted on the intelligence available at the time, having lately rethought my position it occurred that out of the electable candidates (that removes Brownback, Hunter and Tancredo from the list) perhaps McCain was the best we could do. While I do not leap at the prospect of having President McCain I most definitely shrink from the idea that some bloggers including my brother seem to have that McCain is no better than Obama, McCain is not the candidate I would have chosen but as he is our candidate and Obama is the Democrats I will be voting for McCain for two reasons.
1) The most important reason, McCain unlike Obama is a patriotic American, I may not agree with things he has done in the past and perhaps not agree with things he will do in future but there is no question that he is patriotic. Obama on the other hand is a socialist, rascist hate-monger (yeah I said it) and will sink this country, literally, if Obama is elected the United States of America will cease to exist and basically become errand boy for the UN and the rest of the world (when they aren't blowing us up that is).
2) McCain's running mate. McCain shocked the Democrats and their watchdog media by announcing Sarah Palin as his running mate. Not only did he shock them but he energized the conservative Republicans (which make up the majority in the party) into supporters.Governor Palin's record speaks for itself but the thing which gained my support the most is the way the liberal media hounds are trying every tactic to smear her name and reputation, if she was really "unqualified" and "unfit for the job" then they wouldn't say anything. Liberals know she is a threat and they are scared, for the first time since the McCain vs. Obama race began the liberals are scared of losing and they have reason to be.

UPDATE (Jan. 20)
Hunter has dropped out of the race. Therefore Mitt Romney is now the candidate of choice.

After long deliberation (some might say too long) I have arrived at my choice in the Republican primary. As long as he is still on the ballot on Super Tuesday (February 5th) my vote will go to... Duncan Hunter.
The first argument that others would make against voting for Hunter is that he has no chance of winning the nomination and I will be wasting my vote. My answer is, true, barring a miracle, Hunter will not get the nomination, but I will not be wasting my vote, I believe that Hunter is the best candidate and am voting on that litmus test, electability is the last thing I considered when reviewing the candidates.
If Hunter is not on the ballot on Super Tuesday then I will have to choose someone else, but I can guarantee that I will not be voting for Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani or Mike Huckabee. Romney is most likely my second choice barring another entrant before the 5th.

Dead and Famous...or just DEAD?

Once again the news headlines are filled with words of death and violence. Once again liberals will scream about gun control. Unless you are completely cut off from the outside world you will have heard how a teenage gunman killed 8 people in a mall before turning the gun on himself. Experts and analysts have gone back and forth over the teenager's motives. They claim depression or just hatred of the world in general.
My view is quite different and I believe correct, the gunman wanted his ten seconds of fame whether he was around to see it or not. How do I come to this conclusion? From his suicide note. In it he told family and friends they would be better off without him in their lives, "I've been a piece of (expletive) my entire life it seems this is my only option." He then changes tone, "Just think tho I'm gonna be (expletive) famous." There in the words of the killer himself is the reason he did what he did.
If the media would quit giving these shooters so much attention I believe the majority of public shootings would stop. Fame seems to have been the motive behind this shooter and the shooters at many other places including Virginia Tech. So message to the MSM( mainstream media), "Don't give this guy the attention he wanted, then others will realize that the only thing they're going to be is dead, not dead and famous. Now give us some real news, and I don't mean about Britney Spears' latest binge or Paris Hilton's Chihuahua."

A Bear Named Muhammed

Sudanese Muslims are in an uproar over an incident regarding a British-born teacher, in Khartoum, who allowed her students to name their class teddy bear "Muhammad". Apparently this is an insult to the Islamic "prophet" and the Muslim population is not going to sit still over this. They want the teacher executed, perhaps President Bush could remind them that they are supposed to be a "religion of peace" again?
If anything this incident should open people's eyes to the real Islam, a religion driven by fear and death. Any honest scholar of history will tell you that the reason Islam spread so fast was because "infidels" were given two choices convert or die. Islam was never about peace, is not about peace and never will be about peace, just ask the Israelis.
The teacher has been imprisoned for 15 days and faces deportation back to the United Kingdom, hopefully the government won't give in to the mobs, but you never know. Just a quick question to any Muslims out there, what is so offensive about Teddy Bears?

Demublicans or Republocrats?

Once again the hypocrisy of Republicans is revealed. Idaho Senator Larry Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in an airport men's room, the undercover cop who witnessed the scene described Craig's actions as solicitation of sex. Craig is now backpedaling and saying the he only pleaded guilty because he wanted the whole thing to go away, the Boise newspaper Boise Statesman was conducting an investigation into Craig's "sexual orientation", for the past eight months.
Several Republican senators have called for Craig’s resignation and I agree…call the newspapers I agree with John McCain! If any Democrat was caught in such an act (not that he would be, the Democrats have experience avoiding detection, and if they are can always bribe the witnesses) I would expect nothing less, which definitely means that Senator Craig shouldn't get off the hook.
I’m beginning to think that the Republican Party needs to start over from the ground up; too many Republicans are indeterminable from Democrats except that when Republicans are caught it makes headlines, Democrats tend to have their stories buried on page 12 right next to Soap Opera reviews. Republicans are becoming more and more like Democrats, which is why they lost the 2006 elections, voters couldn’t tell the difference except that the Democrats ostensibly were more conservative. Republicans spend taxpayers’ money like Democrats-take bribes like Democrats-are as corrupt and immoral as Democrats-in my book it’s starting to become a no-party nation.
President Bush’s best response to this could be borrowed from Warren Harding, “I have no trouble with my enemies. I can take care of my enemies in a fight. But my d--n friends, they’re the ones who keep me walking the floor nights.”

Unless you live in a cave or are deaf and blind you no doubt know that this past Saturday the last in the Harry Potter series came out. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is perhaps the most hyped-up book since...well, since the last Harry Potter. Posters advertising it are everywhere, "Will you be with Harry at the end?" and various other slogans were (and are) plastered all over. Yahoo news and AOL news ran endless stories on everything from supposed pirated copies to fans' guesses as to the ending of this series. I (as much as it may shock some of you) have read two of the Harry Potter books (Chamber of Secrets & Goblet of Fire), and while I didn't come across anything that I particularly objected to and I must admit that they were well-written and fairly interesting (to fantasy readers) I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Many claim that they are anti-Christian and no true Christian should read them, others claim that they are in fact "Christian" books (in the sense that they endorse Christian truths). I found no evidence that supports one claim above the rest, the books in themselves seem to be fairly harmless, a good story with some good ideals. My main problem with this series is the cult-like following that they have caused to spring up, kids and adults who are so obsessed with them that they dress up and stand in lines for hours (sometimes days) to see the movies or buy the books; and the obsession for witchcraft which has swept the world. Another is the controversy they cause between Christians, some are accused of being narrow minded because they don't read or let their kids read the books or see the movies, others are accused of being too tolerant because they read the books and love the movies, I prefer to think that your response to Harry Potter is your own business, there most probably is no right answer. Some families may like the adventures of the boy wizard others may be wary of it, but in the end it is a personal choice, but just because someone doesn't subscribe to your view doesn't mean you should beat them over the head with it. The reason that Harry Potter has grown to this dimension is most probably due to the controversy among Christians, case-in-point: The DaVinci Code, until the church began reacting to its ridiculous claims it was relatively small, the very fact that there was controversy made lots of people, including Christians, read the book or see the movie. So it is with Harry Potter, let's hope that now the end has come (ostensibly) we can go back to normalcy.

President Sticky Rice?

Election officials in Boston are concerned about plans to create election ballots in Chinese, state officials have introduced a plan calling for Chinese ballots to be distributed in precincts with prominent Chinese-speaking populations. Because of the lack of Chinese characters that match presidential candidates' last names, the translators have been picking characters that match the syllables of those names. Thus Mitt Romney will be known as "Sticky Rice" and Barack Obama as "Oh Bus Horse".
I have a suggestion for these concerned officials, stick with English...it's worked pretty good for this long. If these people live in America and want to vote in America they should at least learn English enough to participate in the everyday affairs of this country. If they want to speak Chinese among their friends and family, read Chinese, write Chinese so be it, but at least demonstrate your willingness to contribute to society by learning English. This country shouldn't have to bend over backwards for people who won't try to fit in. This isn't just for the Chinese either, any person of any nationality who is unwilling to make that smallest of efforts to become an American shouldn't even be granted citizenship.

I want tickets! Ann Coulter has agreed to debate Elizabeth Edwards, this is going to be the most lopsided debate since John Edwards vs. Dick Cheney in 2004.

Mrs. Edwards called MSNBC's "Hardball" where Ann was giving an interview and accused her of lowering "the political dialogue". Apparently, Mrs. Edwards was referring to the comment made by Coulter on Monday that she just wished that John Edwards had been "killed in a terrorist assassination plot," Coulter was picking up on remarks made by HBO's Bill Maher to the same effect about Dick Cheney. Mrs. Edwards then continued by mentioning Coulter's comment that she wouldn't talk about Edwards because you had to go to rehab if you said the word "Faggot," and continuing back to things Coulter said during the Democratic presidential primaries in 2004 about Edwards politicizing his son's death.

During this rant Mrs. Edwards suddenly popped this gem in, "We can't have a debate about issues if you're using this kind of language." At which Coulter said she would debate Mrs. Edwards.

This debate (which won't actually take place) will be over before it starts, I predict a ringer for Coulter.

"Zero Intelligence"

This time the "zero tolerance" laws for schools have gone too far.

#1 Fifth-graders in Racho Palos Verdes, California decorated their promotion mortarboards with American flags and toy soldiers to support the troops in Iraq. These patriotic kids were ordered by school officials to cut off the tiny plastic weapons that the toy soldiers were holding. So now plastic 1/2 inch weapons are a danger to students? There is a difference between safe and stupid.

#2 In Rhode Island, a kindergartner was suspended for having a plastic knife to cut cookies with. I'm surprised the school didn't call the FBI to investiagte, the kid is probbaly part of a terrorist plot to attack all kindergarten schools in Rhode Island...give me a break.

#3 Last year in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, senior Patrick Agin was told that his senior picture of him dressed up in his medieval re-enactor's costume would not be put in the school yearbook because he was holding a sword in the picture. Agin understood his school's policy for no weapons on school grounds, he had never brought the sword to school, and yet his photo was being censored. This year school officials relented and published the yearbook with the photo. Agin was quoted as saying, "You can't really have a zero tolerance. We have track and field. We throw javelins. If you think about it, you can pretty much make anything into a weapon." Agin is right "zero tolerance" is a joke.

First off, you don't have to tell me that there have been 43 presidents (actually 42, Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms), I know that, but I found the fact that William H. Harrison (9th president) died after one month in office made him hard to rank on performance.

Which Is Worse?

Which is worse: 1) to be the worst president in U.S. History? 2) to be accused of being the worst president in U.S. History by the worst president?

If you want the answer ask President Bush, the current administration has been called the "worst in history" by Jimmy Carter. I guess if any one would know about worst administrations it would be him. Carter, the president whose cabinet made Ulysses S. Grant's and Warren Harding's cabinets look like the a church committee.

The prime example of this is Carter's ex-Attorney General (Ramsey Clark) who was advisor to Saddam Hussein's defense team. Besides Clark all of Carter's cabinet was filled with cronies. Carter promised to raise the presidency above cronyism but half of Carter's cabinet had helped launder money through the Carter family business into good ol' Jimmy's campaign. But of course these people were "qualified" it didn't have anything to do with their illegal practices.

In light of this recent event I will be posting my take on the ranking of the presidents in my next blog.

Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty has announced his resignation from the Justice Department. Apparently all the heat that DoJ has been taking over the firing of 9 U.S. attorneys has gotten to him.

Charles Schumer (the senior senator from the lousy state of New York) was quoted as saying, "It seems ironic that Paul McNulty, who at least tried to level with the committee, goes while Gonzales, who stonewalled the committee, is still in charge." It seems that Schumer is as dumb as he is liberal (which is saying a lot). It should be obvious to everyone that McNulty's resignations, and the resignations of two other administration officials, is not because they, or anyone else for that matter, did something wrong, but because the press and congress has been blowing this way out of proportion and they don't want to be accused of something they didn't do.

The press jumps on Bush for the firing of 9 attorneys for "political purposes" and ignore the fact that Clinton, on assuming office, fired over 90 attorneys, but of course Bill Clinton wasn't a political animal, heck no, but George Bush sure is. Does anyone else sense a double standard?

One would think the press and congress would "build a bridge and get over it" by this time, but once Scooter Libby's trial was over they needed a new "scandal" and so now they're waiting for the next action, that could possibly be interpreted by them as a scandal, to happen.

While, I've come to expect this from the media it doesn't make me any less mad that only the Democrats can get away with anything, including murder. Right, Senator Kennedy?

A Savior For The World

In the 2006 film Superman Returns, Superman comes back to Earth after a 5-year trip to the remains of his home planet, Krypton. On his arrival he discovers that the world has largely forgotten him, so much in fact that his former girlfriend, Lois Lane, won a Pulitzer Prize for an article entitled "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." When he gets a chance to see Lois he asks her to come with him for a quick flight. He takes her up above the city and as they gaze down on the bright lights he asks her, "What do you hear?" (Just in case you don't know much about Superman, he has supersonic ears that can hear everything), Lois responds, "Nothing." He looks at her and says, "I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn't need a savior but everyday I hear people crying for one." I always thought that line was quite deep and especially these last few days as I read the news headlines. If ever the world needed a savior it's now. Unfortunately, we don't have a Superman to come swooping in and save us. But as a Christian I believe we have a Super God and He can save us from ourselves. But for Him to save us we need to cry out to Him. The world by and large has rejected God absolutely, its time we who haven't got up off of our butts and did something about it.

But we can't just explain to them that God can save them, we need to explain to them why they need God. The culture is saturated with violence and sex, but God is not allowed, which means this culture has no clue about who God is and what He can do for them. It's time for a change, and this means now!

The biggest story of this past week was of course the shooting at Va. Tech, "Why did it happen? people asked, are asking and will ask. The answer is because once God is taken out of the public mind human life is considered worthless, we abort babies everyday without thinking twice about it, euthanasia is everywhere, but we pretend that school shootings are more wrong than abortions. Who made the rules of right and wrong? God.

So if you don't believe in Him then there is no right and wrong, that means you can't call what happened at Va. Tech wrong, but everyone says it was and it is (I agree). But if there's a right and wrong then there is a right and wrong rule giver and He says that killing any human is wrong, whether that life is a college student or professor, an elderly person or a little defenseless baby.
Its time for the world to rethink its position, not on guns or nuclear weapons but on God. And the Christians need to help make it happen.

With the latest school shooting incident having ocurred on Monday, liberals are once again harping about gun control. Apparently liberals believe that gun control laws would stop this violence that has become all too common place in this country. This would have the exact opposite effect actually, gun crimes would escalate as gun laws became stricter. Why? For a very simple reason.
Criminals would feel free to attack more often if there wasn't a chance that the person they attacked wouldn't whip out a gun and shoot back. The thing about criminals is they don't mind breaking the law, I sincerely doubt the Va. Tech shooter was concerned about breaking any laws. What could have stopped the madman from his rampage? A bullet. If a Va. Tech student or faculty member had had a gun on his/her person the killer wouldn't have made it very far.
The fact that any student or faculty member might possibly have a gun might even have stopped this killer from attempting anything and the 32 victims might still be alive and well.
As Brad Stine (a Christian comedian) says if banning guns works so well, "Why stop there, I know, let's ban crime." Ridiculous isn't it folks? But so is this nonsense about gun control making our country safer.

How much do Democrats hate Karl Rove?

Sorry, I can't answer that question, there are no words in the English language that describe their level of hatred towards Karl Rove. Now they are going as far as to say that Rove has been purposefully deleting emails because of incriminating content about his role in the firing of eight U.S. Attorneys (unless you live in a hole in the ground I'm sure you've heard about this).

The Democrats are furious that they couldn't get him on the Valerie Plame charge and are scrambling to oust him (or at least make him resign). Eventually everything comes back to Karl Rove, if you listen to the Democrats for too long you might end up thinking the man is Satan himself (maybe that's who Muslims refer to when they say "The Great Satan." It's not America, it's one man in particular). Rove even masterminded Hurricane Katrina, he was down there smashing levees, etc. just to make sure the poor people drown.

Personally I don't think Rove deserves all that credit. Bush called him "the architect" after the 2004 election, but if he had been doing his job right it would have been a landslide, instead of just a victory, come election night there would have been no doubts. I don't think that Rove is as clever as everyone makes him out to be, however, if it keeps the Democrats happy so be it.

Returning to the email thing, I found it amusing that Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said, "Those e-mails are there, they just don't want to produce them." Well, Mr. Leahy since you are omniscient (all knowing for those of you in Rio Linda-haha) maybe you could tell us where they are? It would save the RNC and the White House a lot of trouble.

Many people have been speculating on who will win the presidency in 2008 as more and more candidates (Republican and Democrat) step forward. One by one Americans are falling into line behind their pick. I will be turning 18 in May and so be able to vote in the upcoming election but haven't yet seen seen any candidate who inspires confidence. Roger Hitchcock (filling in for Rush Limbaugh today) wants Rudy Giuliani to be elected. The Pendragon has chosen Mitt Romney to stand behind, but as of yet I am undecided. The only candidate who even sparked any interest is Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) and he is a virtual unknown on the national stage. So for right now I don't endorse any candidate...I'm waiting for the final roster and then I will make my decision.

Global warming (or lack thereof)

Now I know that God has a sense of humor, no sooner do the doom-and-gloomers start talking about global warming than he sends a cold wave through the United States. Some scientists believe that within decades snow will not exist and our children will be astonished that we had snow that came above our boots. I'm still trying to cope with these pictures of towns in upstate New York ...where in the past week OVER 7 FEET OF SNOW has fallen. And according to weather reports around 12 more inches is due over the weekend. God made snow and global warming theorists...and sometimes He likes to have a little fun with both.

The Rubidoux High School Choir (in Riverside, California) was asked to stop singing Christmas carols at the Riverside Skating Rink. The reason? 2006 Olympic silver-medalist Sasha Cohen, who had performed at the Riverside Skating Rink and was signing autographs close by, is half-Jewish.
Not only is that ridiculous, but Cohen's mother (who was with her) said that when they found out "Sasha was stunned. We both thought the voices were just lovely, they were doing such a wonderful job. Christmas carols are part of celebrating the holiday season." Is the ACLU listening? Cohen's mother went on to say that Sasha had taken part in the lighting of Christmas trees in both New York and California.
Hopefully people reading this story will realize that anyone offended by Christmas (and its many songs and greetings) should get a life. (Again: Is the ACLU listening?) Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas!

Republicans such as Newt Gingrich and Arlen Specter say that Bush should have announced Rumsfeld's resignation before the elections. This they are convinced would have kept the Republicans in charge of Congress. Apparently both Gingrich and Specter believe that Iraq and Rumsfeld was why Republicans lost the election, and that could every well be the reason that the Democrats voted against the Republicans (haha). But the Republicans lost because they were expanding government, increasing spending and giving amnesty to illegal aliens. The GOP voters were so sick and tired of these acts, more worthy of a Democrat controlled government than a Republican one, that they stayed at home, and now the country will suffer.
But I believe there is a silver-lining to this cloud: after two years of a Democratic controlled Congress, the American people(including the GOP voters) are gong to flood the streets in 2008 to vote against whoever the Democrats nominate for President, Hillary or whomever.

The Party of Cut and Run

Well, I was wrong and I admit it. The Republicans did lose.
All through the campaigns we heard that the Democrats were the party of "cut and run" but the Republicans have shown themselves equal to the task. Within hours of losing control of the house, President Bush announced the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld. Also within hours the President held a press conference in which he pandered to the Democrats by saying "The message yesterday was clear: The American people want their leaders in Washington to set aside partisan differences, conduct ourselves in an ethical manner, and work together to address the challenges facing our nation." Maybe actually the American people were discouraged with the Republican Party's performance on illegal immigration (especially the President's amnesty program) and their increasing of government programs. These disappointments led to the voters staying home or voting against Republicans, granted the Democrats are even worse on these issues, but the American people expect the Republicans to act like Republicans.
I am truly sorry for Pennsylvanians who will now have to endure both Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, Rick Santorum was one of the few real Republicans (with a spine) left in the Senate, again my condolences to the citizens of Pennsylvania.

Kerry's Mouth

After the elections on Tuesday, the GOP should thank their secret weapon...John Kerry's Mouth. John Kerry has just won an election for us. Once again Kerry got caught criticizing our brave troops and is now trying to worm his way out of it before he does his party permanent damage.
Kerry apparently believes that our men and women in uniform are all idiots. Kerry, trying to be a smart-aleck, and failing miserably, said, "If you make the most of it and you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
I'm guessing as soon of the words were out of his mouth, the democratic leadership made a mad scramble to the phones to get him a covering statement. That statement is that it was a "bungled joke" about the President and his advisors. I still don't see where calling the soldiers in Iraq morons gets to criticizing the President but we'll let that pass for now.
Kerry may has just cost his party the election...but I (being a positive guy) am not one of the doom-and-gloomers who believes that the GOP would have lost anyway. But I just let it ride when I read or hear the predictions for the elections, the time to strike is when they think they're going to win it all and you (to use a football analogy) intercept the ball and score a touchdown, while they watch in stunned silence.

German ex-chancellor is writing a book about himself. Gerhard Schroeder recently released an advance excerpt from his memoirs entitled Decisions: My Life In Politics in Der Spiegel magazine.
In this excerpt Schroeder reveals that in his meetings with President Bush on Iraq, before the war began, he was worried. "What worried me, despite a relaxed atmosphere to our talks, and to a certain degree what made me skeptical was how much it came through that this president saw himself as 'God-fearing' and saw that as the highest authority."
Apparently this came as a shock to Schroeder who believed that he himself was the highest authority. But even Mr. Schroeder knew that stating that in his book would raise eyebrows and so instead he said he was worried about this because: "Quite rightly we criticize that in most Islamic states the role of religion in society and the secular character of the legal system are not clearly separated. But we haven't taken note as readily of the U.S. Christian fundamentalists and their interpretation of the bible that show similar tendencies."
Similar tendencies? Last time I checked Christians didn't go around bombing buildings when someone criticizes their faith, like the Muslims did after the Pope made his speech in which he quoted a Medieval text referring to Islam as "a religion spread by the sword."
And Christians also don't kill 3,000 innocent people by crashing planes into buildings for no reason...or maybe the 19 hijackers were all Christians which is why they are reported to have cried "Allah, akbar!" on their way to their death.

How desperate is the gay and lesbian movement? So desperate that they're using animals as their latest campaign scam. I was checking the headlines on AOL tonight and came across a headline that said: "Birds and Bees May Be Gay, Museum Shows."
It turns out that a museum in Oslo (that's the capital of Norway) has opened a "Gay Animals" exhibit. The Oslo Natural History Museum has a new exhibit which features homosexuality among animals. I can't go into detail because of the disgusting descriptions that would be involved in the sort of displays in this exhibit.
Now supposedly some animals are gay? I'm not a trained scientist but it seems to me that this would refute evolution (the sacred cow of the liberal scientists). According to that theory (which I don't believe in)don't animals get better, they evolve into better animals? Animals that don't reproduce are not better animals and they will die out. Maybe that's what happened to the dinosaurs they all turned gay and couldn't reproduce.
This is the latest attempt to justify an immoral and disgusting lifestyle that God condemns. It makes me sick to think of the people who are injecting this sleaze into our culture.

Once again Islam has proved itself a "religion of peace." After Pope Benedict XVI's remarks in which he quoted a medieval text calling the teachings of Islam "evil and inhuman" and that Islam was a religion "spread by the sword." Muslims everywhere demonstrated violently. The Pope was burned in effigy and churches in the Middle East were bombed.
Of course, Pope Benedict apologized but the Muslims still aren't satisfied, Al-Qaeda has released a statement saying that: "you (the Pope) and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. ... We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose the 'jizya' tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (being killed by) the sword." But of course Islam is a religion of peace...hold it...everything that this statement says backs up the Pope's comments.
This religion is not normal, you'll notice that when Christianity is attacked in public speeches or in the media Christians don't go on burning effigies or bombing buildings or even issuing hate-filled statements.
The Prophet Mohammed told his followers that the "infidels" had two choices 1) to convert to Islam or 2) to be killed. And that's THE RELIGION OF PEACE?
I would admit that there are Muslims who don't follow the Prophet's instructions but those teachings in themselves are violent and definitely not peaceful. One wonders which side Mohammed would side with if eh were alive today, but my guess is he'd be the top of Al-Qaeda or something.

I'm sure sometime this month we've all been asked the question: Where were you? Where were you on September 11, 2001?
Being homeschooled I was sitting in our schoolroom doing math when my Mom came in and told me to turn on the radio, "We're under attack!" For the next 4 hours my eyes were riveted on the TV as they showed over and over the two planes crashing into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon burning and news of a fourth plane crashing in rural Pennsylvania. Thankfully we had (and have) a President who was capable of unifying the nation together when it needed it most.
Today as I see again images of that horrible day I thank God for the President, the Armed Forces and the first responders, some who died trying to save other people. Also eight days ago I wrote about Donald Rumsfeld and how much I like him. One thing that I really like about him was that 5 years ago as the Pentagon burned and while his security team was trying to organize, Donald Rumsfeld took off his suit jacket and helped carry out the wounded people.
This blog is dedicated to the innocent men and women who died 5 years ago, to the policemen and firemen who ran into the buildings but not out of them, and to the greatest nation on God's green earth: America!

Apparently the source of the CIA "leak" involving Valerie Plame was, former Number 2 State Department official, Richard Armitage.
This is a big shock to the liberals who soooo wanted to have it be Karl Rove. Armitage admits that he inadvertently let the fact that Plame worked at the CIA slip in two different conversations with Bob Woodward and Robert Novak.
Armitage states the he didn't realize that Plame's status was covert, one might wonder why and here are the two answers-
1: (Armitage's answer) "I assumed that Plame's job wasn't secret because she was mentioned in a State Department memo.
2: (My answer and I'm still waiting for a White House press release on this) Plame wasn't covert or a secret. Valerie Plame was (and is I guess) a paper-pusher over at Langley and was known around Washington social circles as working for the CIA. Several people who attended social functions before the "leak" mentioned that Plame was introduced by her husband as "my CIA wife." Doesn't sound covert to me.

The Democrats want Rumsfeld out! So what else is new? Apparently a resolution by Senate Democrats to call for Rumsfeld resignation.
Leading Senate Democrats (such as Chuck Schumer D-NY) have been canvassing their colleagues views on such a resolution. Schumer said, "I believe there is a lot of sentiment to push for such a resolution, indeed."
This action started after California Senator Barbara Boxer declared herself offended by some remarks made by Secretary Rumsfeld last week. Boxer apparently finds the truth insulting.
In a speech last week Rumsfeld compared critics of the Iraq War to Nazi sympathizers in 1938 and '39. It seems that Senator Boxer finds this description insulting (it appears even the liberals aren't ready to claim kinship with the Nazis). I believe that history bears Rumsfeld out though, every reason that the Nazi sympathizers of 1938 and 1939 gave to stay out of the war has been used by the liberals in politics and the media today. Reasons such as "unnecessary deaths", "quagmires", etc.
The more I hear about Donald Rumsfeld the more I agree with what Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said, "I think Secretary Rumsfeld has done an excellent job. He'll be remembered as one of the great secretaries of defense."

Anyone wishing to invade France might want to do so soon. France has just sent it's entire military force of 2,000 men to Lebanon to participate in "peacekeeping" in Lebanon. Apparently this coincides with Jacques Chirac's wish to be able to surrender quickly if Al-Qaida asks. Chirac's plan is to surrender even quicker than the French government did in World War II, he hopes this will put him in the history books, because otherwise he's doomed to obscurity.
Just kidding about the above, other than the force of 2,000 headed for Lebanon. This act came after France felt threatened to increase the size of their force (currently 200 men) or lose primary command of the peacekeeping force to Italy. Already smarting from the World Cup, France decided to increase troop numbers as a "face-saving gesture," according to Dominique Moisi, an analyst with France's Institute for International Relations.

Two words: Shut up!
I'm sick and tired of seeing headlines reading: Mel Gibson this, Mel Gibson that, somebody defended Mel Gibson, somebody denounced Mel Gibson. When are you going to get it through your heads that the American people could care less. This isn't even news.Mel Gibson was driving drunk...okay a police report about it would be fine, end of story. But no, we have to be subjected to days of nothing but Gibson bashing. (I'm not condoning drunk driving here...but the media has gone too far) The only reason they report on this is because of two reasons: 1) Gibson made the movie "The Passion of the Christ" 2) He didn't apologize for it.
So now the fact that he was driving drunk has made headlines, along with the statement that he was making anti-Semitic remarks. Supposedly Hollywood and the Media suddenly believe that making anti-Semitic remarks is wrong (which it is), but there's a double standard with these people. Drunk driving and anti-Semitic remarks by celebrities is all fine (and hushed-up) until Mel Gibson does it and then its news! Give me a break.
Gibson made a mistake, now it's time to build a bridge and get over it.

"Lebanon Estimates 600 Civilian Deaths"
While this is a sad thing there are two things the media doesn't take into account when reporting this.
1) This is a war. Civilians will get injured and killed. There is no avoiding this.
2) Hezbollah still has not come out to fight an open war. They still hide in their bunkers and put weapon caches under or near schools, hospitals, mosques and civilian houses. Israel has been more than generous by warning the Lebanese to evacuate before they begin a strike.
The bunkers that are "in the open" are forty feet or more beneath the ground and the Israelis cannot reach that far with their missiles. How 'bout the US selling (or giving)the Israelis some of our MOAB missiles, which will get the job done. After all, if they keep this up, the U.S. will have one less terrorism network to deal with later. And besides we owe them for the killing of 241 marines in 1983.

George W. Bush is no longer a veto-less President. 5 1/2 years after being sworn in for the first time, Bush has vetoed a bill.
Bush had promised during the 200 election to stop federal funding of embryonic stem cell research and he has followed through with this veto. Fortunately, the House of Representatives didn't have enough votes to override the veto and the stem cell research bill is dead.
I myself am not opposed to stem cell research provided we use adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cell research has not produced anything during the years of study except dead embryos; meanwhile adult stem cells have been proved to have a benefit.
Some adult stem cells actually can be used to heal spinal fractures! Many other types have been used for other useful purposes, that's why there is never any question of federal funding for it. The private sector has discovered the profit that can be made by this kind of research and have wisely funded it. Meanwhile the private sector has steered away from the embryonic stem cell research on account of its not being profitable.

Way to go, Israel! I've been having so much fun reading how Israel is kicking the crap out of Lebanon and Hezbollah in particular. Hezbollah has been killing innocent Israelis for years and Israel has mostly retaliated in small, isolated ways. But it seems that Israel's people have had enough. After the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday Israel launched an attack against Hezbollah's headquarters and has been pounding away at airfields and other strategic targets with a vengeance.
Hezbollah's leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, said: "You wanted an open war and we are ready for an open war." Really? Then sit back and relax as Israel blows you and your terrorists sky high. Israel must be glad of an open war considering the way that Hezbollah has murdered innocent civilians for no other crime then being an Israeli.

How do you know when something is a bad idea? When Bill Clinton endorses it. Clinton's latest award winner is President Bush's immigration reform, I think this is Bush's cue to drop it like a hot potato.
Addressing NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the biggest Hispanic rights group in America, Clinton said: "I'm proud of him for doing it and I thanked him for doing it." Interestingly enough, NCLR's current president is Janet Murguia, a former Clinton aide.
Clinton also took time from his speech to lambast conservatives who see this reform bill as a way of giving amnesty to law breakers. "They believe in a government that is secret, unaccountable and that maximizes its own power. They really believe the world works better if they run it and we keep our mouths shut."
Meanwhile Clinton believes in a country where felons are paroled, babies killed and gay marriage allowed to undermine the few values society has left.
To all those Republicans out there who think the reform bill good, just remember this motto: "If Clinton is for it, you'd better be against it." Thank you and have a nice day.

Dan Rather is leaving CBS...quite a shocking event for me, considering that having been born in '89 I have always thought of Dan Rather as CBS. Rather is a liberal and so I don't agree with him on anything, I'm sure...but I wish him good luck with whatever he chooses to do next...
An interesting thing, I was reading a summary of the big events of Rather's time at CBS, see if you notice a pattern in it:

·1962: Joins CBS News as chief of the network's Southwest bureau in Dallas, where it was his job to cover 23 states, Mexico and Central America.

·Nov. 22, 1963: Reports live from the scene of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Not only was CBS the first network on the scene, but Rather was also the first to report Kennedy had died.

·1964: Promoted to White House correspondent for CBS News.

·1965: Sent to Vietnam Ã— at his own request Ã— to cover the war.

·1966: Returns to the U.S. and resumes his role as White House correspondent.

·1974: His combative style is captured in a memorable moment while exchanging verbal jabs with President Nixon. First, Rather is booed and applauded when he stands to ask Nixon a question. Notice a pattern? The only President's attacked are Republicans! There is no record of him making verbal jabs at Lyndon Johnson...or Jimmy Carter. Rather "sits down" to an interview with Clinton doesn't treat him like he did VP Bush.

While in Washington D.C. this past Thursday I came across something that made me want to half-laugh and half-cry. My family and I stopped in at the Smithsonian Museum of American History (a really cool museum by the way) and were making our way through the section on the American Presidency when we came across a touch screen poll. Naturally I decided to vote (being a conservative who believes that voting is important ).
The poll was on the most influential president in the history of America, you could choose any president in history from George Washington to George W. Bush. I, being a conservative, chose Ronald Reagan and pressed the results button. The top six appeared on the screen, they were as follows: 1) George Washington, 2) Abe Lincoln, 3) Franklin Roosevelt, 4) Bill Clinton 5) Ronald Reagan, 6) George W. Bush
"That's nice, but what's the point?" you ask. You probably think that I'm upset at Reagan's fifth place showing, a little but not much. The thing that really stuck out to me was the ignorance (or downright stupidity) of the people voting in the poll, why was Clinton in fourth place? Why was he even on the list?
It's not just because I'm a conservative who thinks Bill Clinton the second worst president of all time. I just don't see what Clinton did to rank him that high, you may like Clinton, but if you can show me one thing he did that was a big benefit to our country please comment.
Washington had the distinction of being the first, his decisions had a huge influence on what the fledgling US would do. Lincoln guided the great ship of state through the turbulent Civil War. FDR (who I wouldn't have ranked so high, but I digress) got America through World War II. Reagan came into office with a demoralized America, they had suffered Vietnam, Watergate, Gerald Ford and the almost killing blow of Jimmy Carter as president; yet America became a proud nation during Reagan's term. George W. Bush had the strength and integrity that helped us rebuild our shattered country in the wake of September 11, 2001 and to lead us to victory over the Taliban.
In the midst of these great men stands a saxophone former governor of Arkansas and what has he done to warrant this rank? Absolutely nothing.

The European Union has put together a package of economic and political proposals as an incentive for Iran to close down its Nuclear Program. A word of advice to the EU, diplomacy won't work, bending over backwards won't work...only one thing will convince the terrorist now president of Iran: force!

The London-based human rights group: Amnesty International has written a report to the U.N. accusing the U.S. government of torturing terror suspects in Cuba, Afghanistan and Iraq. However, no specifics were mentioned or even generalizations in the article I read. But my response comes in 2 parts:
1) I'm glad Amnesty International decided to actually investigate reports of torture...where was Amnesty International when Saddam Hussein was killing thousands of his own people? I did a search on Amnesty International's website looking for the words: Saddam Hussein and torture. The results? A few items about various Husseins not related to Saddam and three about Amnesty International supervising Saddam's trial to make it fair. Why don't you liberals involved in this organization go investigate the countries that torture people? The United States government has never authorized torture (Al Gore's speeches as VP notwithstanding).
2) You're are the same bunch who wanted the U.S. to grant terrorists POW status. Terrorists who hide behind innocents and cower in caves...only daring to attack when apathy has prevailed. Anybody with the brain of a slug knows that you don't give cowards and skunks POW status, if nothing else it will inflate their egos more then they need.
Anybody who supports these terrorists are terrorists, and I group Amnesty International in that. They have aided and abetted terrorists by making up lies about the best country on the face of the earth...if you don't like the way we run things here, fine...drop dead.

Is it just me or are there more and more people whining lately? The liberals whine that Bush isn't leading the country right, the liberals whine that too many troops are dying in Iraq, the liberals whine that gas is too high. Okay, so maybe only the liberals have been whining but today hundreds of thousands of Hispanics took a page from the liberals playbook. Hispanics flooded the streets, leaving their workplaces and schools, to protest immigration reform that would make entering the country illegally a felony. Protestors marched and carried signs that read such things as: "Our Rights" "We Are America" and such things. My response will come in two parts. 1) If you are an employer whose workers left work today to protest fire them! Anybody who walks off the job should be fired. 2) You are not America out there. You are Mexicans who have illegally crossed the border and squatted here. You also have no rights, you are not citizens of the U.S. and cannot and should not be treated like one. If you aren't legalized then you have no rights and sure as heck shouldn't be granted amnesty. But my biggest problem with these "immigrants" is the fact that they will not become American they want to make money here without having to give something to make America better. Theses people want America to pay them, clothe them, provide for them while they care so little for America that they won't even learn English (and we're expected to accommodate. If there are people out there who really want to become Americans...immigrate legally...it's not that difficult...unless you're a known terrorist or drug dealer. Theodore Roosevelt had this to say about immigrants and immigration: "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself with us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every way an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

The news and the blogosphere has been jumping around with different stories of the gas prices. And just yesterday President Bush announced his intention to let oil companies stop (temporarily) putting percentages of their supply into the emergency reserve. While liberals and some conservatives have accused this companies of price-gouging I do not believe that is happening (at least not on a large scale).
Oil companies make a total profit of 9 cents on a gallon of gas, the federal government has a tax of 18.4 cents (more than double the oil companies profit) on a gallon of gas and the states levy their own tax on gas, which varies from state to state. In New York for instance the state levies a tax of 44 cents on the gallon! Quit complaining about oil companies! If the federal government would would lreduce their tax on gas and the states each reduce theirs we wouldn't be having these gas prices! The reason they're going up now is because of the switching between the gas that we used in the winter and the gas we use in the summer. Also in America we have over 60 different kinds of gas that have to be sold in different areas, if we didn't spend half our time refining oil into different kinds we could drive the gas prices back down. Who's in charge of these dumb laws? The same idiots in Washington who complain about gas prices while they drive SUVs and fly their own private jets!

President Bush has said that changes are on the way for his White House. He has given his new chief of staff, Joshua Bolten, authority to make changes as Mr. Bolten sees fit. Bush has restated however that Donald Rumsfeld is secure in his position as Sec. of Defense, which is a relief for a patriotic Americans with brains. Mr. Bush did say that changes would be made and hopefully removing Sec. of Transportation Norman Mineta will be the first. Mineta has done nothing to make our airliners safer, airline officials are still only allowed to detain up to two men of Arab extraction. But Mr. Mineta allows airline officials to strip search little old white ladies who are going to visit their grandchildren. But of course! How could I forget those 19 little old ladies who hijacked four planes in 2001! Oh, that's right. That's why I can't remember...it never happened! But nineteen Arab men did. I'm against racial profiling...but it is going on...people of every other skin color are being detained and searched while Arabs are barely given cursory glances and passed. Something's wrong here and it's Mineta's fault. "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, Norm Mineta's got to go!" (Sorry about that)

According to the article I read he stepped down from his position as House Majority leader for having ties to Jack Abramoff, God only knows what that means, if having ties to Jack Abramoff makes you ineligible to hold a position in government than Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid should step down because not only does he have "ties" he actually took money from him and then refused to give it back, unlike the Republicans who took money from him. Unless you've been living in a cave for the last week, you know that Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) was stopped and detained by Capitol Hill Police while on her way into the Capitol. McKinney was not wearing her badge, which members of congress are supposed to do and was not recognized by the police officer who detained her. However McKinney and her band of idiots are trying to blame the police officer, said McKinney: "This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female black congresswoman."Come on, Cynthia! Are you really vain enough to believe that the police officer wanted to touch you inappropriately?
But does it end there? No! Notice the last phrase in McKinney's statement, "a female black congresswoman." While I am certainly glad you're not a male black congresswoman, I think you are trying to relive the sixties over an incident that was your own stupid fault.
According to McKinney's lawyer, James W. Myart Jr., "Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin." Mr. Myart, may I suggest you take the money McKinney will be paying you for defending her and go buy a brain? The congresswoman was in the wrong, she was not wearing her badge that showed who she was and, according to Capitol Hill Police officials, she was asked three times by the officer to stop and when she did not he tried to detain her...At which time she struck the officer, very politely I'm sure, Mr. Myart.
Cynthia McKinney should shut her mouth and get a life, you are no Rosa Parks, Cynthia, Rosa Parks would have been ashamed to even know you.

Why don't we combine the militaries of every country in the U.N. Security Council and invade Iran and get rid of their nuclear program? Because the U.N. is a committee of weak-kneed, yellow-bellied, chicken-hearted numbskulls, (that's the G-rated version)that's why! The junior senator from New York does not believe the new immigration bill is consistent with Republican's claim to values. Hillary Clinton ,in a speech yesterday, denounced the new bill that would make illegal immigration a felony instead of a civil offense as unchristian. The senator believes that this is contradictory to the Republican's party's claim of faith and values. Mrs. Clinton also called the bill "mean spirited." Apparently it is standing up for faith and values and sweet spirited to con innocent people out of homes through sneaky contracts as Mrs. Clinton did in the scandal known as Whitewater, which for some reason never made it to the papers, but that's another story. And apparently it's all right to fire federal employees on false charges to hire old cronies as in the scandal known as Travelgate. But apparently securing our borders from illegal immigrants is not.

On a local radio talk show I heard a bit of information I didn't know about General John J. Pershing, the commander of the American Expeditionary Force in World War I. This sounds like a good idea for us to do with insurgents.

It seem that in the early 1900s America was having troubles with Muslim insurgents in the Philippines. The War Department dispatched General John Pershing to deal with the problem. When Pershing arrived he ordered his men to capture some of the Muslims, they captured 50.
Pershing had the Muslims tied to posts, then he ordered his men to slaughter a pig in front of the Muslims. Next he had his men dip 49 bullets in the pigs blood and shoot 49 of the Muslims. Pershing then ordered his men to throw the bodies into a deep pit and they did, he told them to next take the pig's remains and bury them on top of the Muslims, this they also did. After he had completed this Pershing ordered that the last Muslim be released, and from that day forward the US didn't need to worry about Muslims in the Philippines.

It's not common for me to praise Senator John McCain (Arizona-R), mainly because of his waffling on certain issues, but here I will do so, during the Southern Republican Leadership convention John McCain called for Republicans to rally around Bush. Way to go South Dakota! SD's governor has just signed into law a bill passed by South Dakota's legislature that bans abortions in that state unless the mother's life is in danger. Of course the courts are going to start a fight over how this in "unconstitutional" while acting unconstitutional. The courts in America were meant to uphold the laws passed by the federal and state governments not overturn them...so while a judge declares this new law "unconstitutional" remember that if Jefferson or Madison or Hamilton were still alive they would seek to have that judge removed from office...for overstepping his lawful and intended bounds.

It's not often that I applaud Hollywood for doing something right...but today I will break with that tradition. Last night in a stunning announcement at the Academy, gay-cowboy flick: Brokeback Mountain was rejected for Best Picture. After having been predicted as a favorite to sweep the Oscars, Brokeback lost to Crash a film about interracial relations. Brokeback did however walk away with a total of three awards: Best Director (which should have gone to Andrew Adamson for his Narnia work, he wasn't even nominated), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Musical Score. Next year the academy should take more time and nominate films that audiences have actually seen. None of the Best Picture nominations made it to the Top 10 grossing films of the year. The Academy apparently ignored this when making their decisions and I for one would like to know why...and I'm sure every Star Wars fan out there wanted Revenge of the Sith to be nominated and win something...being the last installment of that series. And I am shaking my head at the stupidity of the Academy...Narnia won one award: Best Makeup, come one, is that all you guys could think of?

BIG NEWS! President Bush was warned of Katrina before it struck! Wow! I never would have guessed that would you? News agencies are going ballistic because it is said that Pres. Bush was told of the hurricane's abilitly to break levees and flood New Orleans. In confidential video footage of a video conference between FEMA and the President, then FEMA Brown warns Bush of the potential of this hurricane. At the end Bush confidently replies that FEMA is ready...relying on the info he was getting from FEMA this should be obvious...did Brown say that FEMA would be unable to handle it...I don't think so!
But hold off on that for now, engineers have been warning the government for the last 15-20 years that the levees in New Orleans could be easily breached if hit with a category 4 or 5 hurricane. It's time for the moronic media to shut up and get out.
During this weeks festivities in new Orleans for Mardi Gras, the media was reporting: "New Orleans celebrates first Fat Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday) since Katrina!" There is a reason for this as Rush Limbaugh pointed out, namely that this is the first Fat Tuesday since Katrina.
What went wrong during Katrina? I have the answer. The Democratic Governor of Louisiana and Mayor of New Orleans refused to cooperate with the Red Cross and the Federal government. In a nutshell that's it, true the federal government could have been better prepared, but you can always be better prepared when disaster strikes...that's why it's called "disaster!"

I would like to retract my blog of the 23rd. In it as you can read below I criticized the Bush administration for allowing a security firm based in the United Arab Emirates to take control of six US Ports. Like most Americans with this issue I spoke in haste and ignorance (see Adam I'll admit I don't know everything). The "mainstream" media has been portraying this as basically a complete turnover of security at our ports to this company. This is a complete fabrication. True DP World is contracted to take over part of security at these six ports including New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore but the U.S. Coast Guard will be overseeing all security measures as it has done, is doing and will continue to do at all US Ports. The Coast Guard has released a report on DP World stating that contracting them is not endangering America in any way. The media and the Democrats have taken this opportunity to make a pretence of being tough on terrorism and to crucify Bush and his administration. Perhaps even if Americans can't agree with Bush on this deal we can at least look at Bush's record and the liberals record on terrorism as of now it ranks, Bush: 100, Dems: 0

Families of the men and women who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks want the memorial planned for the site of the the Twin Towers changed. The present plan, called "The Reflecting Absence" will outline he place where the Twin Towers stood with reflecting pools and the names of the victims. The problem: It will be underground...a tree-lined plaza will be built above ground at the site. Local police and firemen, who were first responders, are concerned over the small number of exits from the memorial in case of fire or another terrorist attack. Family members want the memorial above ground so that everyone can see, not just the ones who venture underground.
Personally I think they're all wrong, we don't need a memorial of either kind, the most fitting memorial is to rebuild the towers, rebuild them and add 3 more stories to it and shove it right back in the terrorists arrogant faces. By doing this we will be telling them: You knocked down the last ones and we've got even better ones now. To commemorate the people who died on 9/11 I would suggest putting up engravings inside the towers on each floor and list the people who worked on that floor. For the brave firemen and policemen who went in and didn't come back out put their names on two of the extra three stories in order of their stations and their response. The pilots and passengers of the two flights that crashed into them should be put on the top floor.

Two very great and different men died over the weekend:
1) The great comedian\actor Don Knotts, best remembered for his portrayal of high-strung deputy Barney Fife in "The Andy Griffith Show"died Friday in Los Angeles. Knotts was an actor whose performances spanned generations from "The Steve Allens Show" in the fifties to voicing characters in animated films as late as 2005. Knotts was a man of many talents, able to make people laugh at the way his expressions would say more than the words he spoke. Knotts, one of the last of the great comedic actors of the sixties is proof of the fact that something good can ideed come out of West Virginia (just not Senators).
2) "The father of modern Creationism", as he is known, died this weekend. Dr. Henry Morris of "Institute for Creation Research" (ICR) had a minor stroke last Wednesday and died in his son's home. His son Dr. John Morris continues his father's work at ICR and is a recognized scientist in the United States and around the world. My condolences to the Morris family and my thanks to Henry Morris, truly a great man.

Why give a United Arab Emirates security firm six of our ports to protect? Are we trying to invite the terrorists over here? With the UAE controlling security at six of our ports the terrorists could easily slip a nuclear weapon into the United States and BOOM the rest of New York City is gone.
Why not continue with our guys in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for security. As a ICE agent said when told of this deal: "Allowing the UAR to take over these important Ports is akin to allowing Michael Jackson to babysit your children, or allowing Bill Clinton to take your wife along on a business trip!"
Mr. President, maybe you think you are extending the hand of friendship to a third-world nation. But this nation harbors terrorists, according to your speech after Sep. 11, 2001 that should disqualify them from having anything to do with the US, especially something to do with protecting our ports! If this "security" firm gets the job then we will be more vulnerable to another terrorist attack on US soil than we have been since 9/11.

The U.N. Commission on Human Rights released a report in January that blasted the United States for acts "amounting to torture" at the Guantanamo Bay prison. The U.N.'s report was printed on Sunday in the L.A. Times and stated that the "Commission on Human Rights" wants the detainee prison shut down.
Among the charges that amount to torture are force-feeding and solitary confinement. Wow...everyone remotely involved with the Club Gitmo should be thrown in jail for that! First to ensure that the detainees stay alive the guards break up a hunger-strike and have to force the detainees to eat, big deal. Mothers have to force their contrary two year olds to eat sometimes too and I don't see a U.N. report on banning mothers. And I thought the U.N. wanted us to leave the terrorists all alone...and we do...we capture them and put them in solitary confinement where the only person they can hurt is themselves.

The Sheik happens to be the head of Hezbollah, a known terrorist group.

Does anyone else know that these cartoons were printed last year? If you said yes, good for you! Why are the Muslims just now making a fuss? Iran is still shocked that their friends in Europe would actually dare to tell them what to do. But not shocked enough to just sit there and do nothing. Another question is...where did all the Danish flags come from? Apparently it took them this long to ship in enough for the protests...maybe that's their story..."we needed flags to burn and we couldn't get them any quicker." Right.
On the issue of the cartoons themselves, why shouldn't cartoons make fun of Mohammed? Newspapers can make fun of Christians, Jews, Jesus or any other person related with these beliefs. Why not Islam and why not Mohammed? Because the religion of Islam is the only one that believes that you should kill those who believe different. That's why.
Things like this make me wish the Crusades (a grudge held against Christians by the Muslims) were successful. I don't care how many people say. I don't care how many republicans say it. I don't care how many conservatives say it. Islam is not a religion of peace it is primarily concerned with killing dissenters. No other religion is this extreme...peace has no place in Islam...not the way "the Prophet" told it.

Kansas Senator Sam Brownback (Republican) insists that he did not call homosexuals: "fruits." In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine Brownback criticized the legalizing of homosexual marriage in countries such as Sweden. During the course of the interview Senator Brownback quoted this verse from the Bible: "You'll know them by their fruits" (Matthew 7:19). Obviously, to anyone with a brain that is, Brownback's comments were supposed to point out what effects the legalization of gay marriage has had on Sweden's culture. Sweden has one of the worst divorce rates in the world, not just heterosexual divorces either. Sweden has a high poverty and crime rate.
But unfortunately for Brownback the reporter at Rolling Stone and the people of the "Human's Rights Campaign" (who stand up for everything that is not a right, like abortion and gay marriage) believed that he was calling gays "fruits."
According to "Human's Rights Campaign" spokesman Brad Luna (or maybe he is really a she) "It's nice to know that Senator Brownback doesn't resort to name-calling from the 1970s, but unfortunately his anti-gay agenda continues to speak for itself." Since when has disagreeing with a warped worldview become a bad thing? I agree that Brownback's record speaks for itself. It's saying: "I represent the moral and spiritual tradition of America...if you don't like it...move to Sweden!" Brownback, a potential presidential nominee for '08 will have my vote if he makes it.

Senator Bill Frist (R-Tenn) told some Republican activists that Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito is a "nightmare" for liberal Democrats. The news article on AOL went on to say that while Alito is a "nightmare" for liberals, no Democrat has said that he will oppose Alito on the floor of the Senate.
That's why Alito's a "nightmare" to the Democrats. If they were to try and filibuster Mr. Alito, the Democratic party would lose the '06 elections and the '08 elections big time. I am not a big fan of Martin Luther King Jr. but I have no objection to the African-Americans (we must be politically correct) having a holiday for one of their heroes. US Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) gave a speech in which she accused Republicans from "running a plantation" with African American congressmen. Excuse me (for being Republican), but President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves in 1863, he was a Dem...no wait he was Republican! Who enforced desegregation in Arkansas (Hillary's home state originally)? It was President Eisenhower, and he was a Dem...wait he was Republican too. Who appointed not one, but two black Americans to the position of Secretary of State? President George W. Bush...and he is definitely not a Democrat! Does it mean anything that Bush appointed more blacks to his cabinet then Bill Clinton? Not to Hillary it sure as heck don't.
Also in the news today: The Washington Times ran a story in which they revealed the hypocrisy of Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass). It revealed how that, while Mr. Kennedy criticized Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito for belonging to a Princeton club that was opposed to letting women and minorities enroll (20+ years ago) at Princeton, Mr. Kennedy belonged to an all-men club (personally I have no problem with that) from Harvard. Mr. Kennedy has resigned from that club now, the better to criticize other nominees who may come his way. His spokeswoman defended him by saying that he joined it in 1954, before women were accepted at Harvard. Mr. Alito joined his club before women were allowed to enroll at Princeton. Unfortunately, for him, only Democrats can get away with things like that.

The man who tried to assassinate the late Pope John Paul II has disappeared. Mehmet Ali Agca, who tried to kill the pope on May 13, 1981 was released from prison, in Turkey, yesterday. He was ordered to check in at police stations every day until officials decided whether or not he should be drafted into the military. By this evening he had failed to show up.
Agca was also ordered to appear at a military hospital on Monday. If he fails to show up he will be branded a draft-dodger (how about "would-be assassin?"). Officials are waiting to make sure that their hasn't been a mistake, there has been. They made it when they released Agca from jail. Someone should examine the Turkish officials' heads (and that right speedily).

While in Canada over the weekend (for my brother's wedding) I had a chance to read a Canadian newspaper. I didn't expect much in the way of pro-American sentiment in it, so I wasn't disappointed. Basically the whole paper was dedicated to telling the Americans what we were doing wrong and how we should act more like the Canadian government.
It especially criticized Bush for "spying" on Americans. That's all fine and dandy for them to say. If my memory does not deceive me America was the one attacked on September 11th, not Canada. Now the administration is trying to stop another attack from happening and only getting criticized for its efforts. This is strangely reminiscent of the 1960s-1970s, Kennedy and Johnson got away with whatever they wanted, along comes Nixon and the first slip-up he makes is considered a scandal. Ford gets treated the same way, then along comes Carter and the press begins to respect the president's privacy again.

Yesterday I went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The film was great! The acting was superb, Lucy acts like a little girl who has truly stumbled into a magic land. Edmund's sulkiness brought home his character. The beavers were funny. The centaurs of Aslan's army were cool. And Aslan was awesome! Liam Neeson did a good job of voicing him, making him sound powerful, wild and kind all at the same time.
The film was lacking in some of the more obvious hints at Christianity, but this is a start for Hollywood. The more movies they make like this, not explicitly Christian but positive, the more money they will make and they might learn their lesson. Besides the movie may draw people who have never read any of Lewis' books to do so, if not his theological ones, at least his fantasy ones (the rest of The Chronicles of Narnia and his Space Trilogy), which contain enough subtle theology to bring home the basics of Christianity.

As you've probably heard, Congress has been making a lot of noise about "torture" and should we prosecute soldiers who participate in "torture." Today on his show Rush Limbaugh asked the question of: "what constitutes torture?" I have the answer: "Listening to liberals whine about the same subject over and over again."

A bit of new news, it turns out that the NSA (National Security Agency) has been "spying" on Americans. Supposedly the NSA has been tracking and gathering information on Americans who have a potential to be terrorists. Liberals everywhere are making beef over this. They are accusing the NSA (and ultimately the Bush administration) of encroaching on civil rights. However if I recall, the terrorists who killed 3000 plus people on September 11, 2001 were based in America, correct? I haven't forgotten that, though apparently everyone on the left has. May I also take this opportunity to remind liberals that their hero president (from the 60s) John F. Kennedy, the brother of one the sharpest critics of this "spying," used the FBI and the Justice Department (run by Robert Kennedy) to spy on political enemies, including MLK Jr.

First: Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill) accused Republicans of "social Darwinism." Rather an interesting statement, does it mean perhaps that Republicans have "evolved" farther than Democrats and so consider ourselves higher beings? Or perhaps he means that we believe in survival of the fittest and that Republicans always win elections thus making us the "fittest."
Secondly, Senator Bill Frist (R-Tenn), the Senate Majority Leader, has promised to use veto a filibuster if one is used against Samuel Alito during his confirmation. It's about time we got rid of the filibuster, however we must see whether Frist's words will lead to actions or not.

In Iraq today, Saddam Hussein’s defense team walked out of the trial in a attempt at protest. Saddam’s half-brother Ibrahim shouted, “Why don't you just execute us and get rid of all of this!” An excellent suggestion Ibrahim…however the Americans have been trying to civilize the courts in Iraq. The more I read about Nixon the more I like him. Recently declassified documents from his presidency reveal that he continued to conduct a secret war in Cambodia. I love, I just love it. Today on AOL News they had an interview with Jimmy Carter about a “Moral Crisis.” Would you like a guess as to who Jimmy Carter blames for this crisis? You got it! Christian Conservatives who are electing conservatives to public office. Who are, of course, a minority, according to Carter. “I really don't believe that a vast majority of the American people approve of what has been happening recently in Washington. And I think after they read my book and realize the profound nature of the change, there's going to be an even greater desire to see the changes back to what we have always valued as American moral principles.” News to Jimmy from Mars! President Bush was re-elected in the biggest voter turnout ever. It seems to me that the vast majority does agree with what goes on in the White House. Maybe he’s just mad because he’s stuck with a vast minority who can’t win elections on agenda, they win on smear campaigns.
Note to Republicans running for office (and future Republicans) You must be perfect for 35 years before you run for public office. As for you Democrats: Forget it, you couldn’t do it. And by the way, just who is Jimmy Carter to be lecturing us on how to run the country? If my memory serves his presidency was the weakest ever. The American people were so glad, after 1976, that they lived in a republic, where they would get to change their minds as to who should be president. With Bush's nomination of Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court, Democratic Senators are in a fix. If they decide to filibuster there is no guarantee that the 14 senators who helped them last time will do so again, two of those 14 have stated their intention to vote for Alito. Vice President's aide I. Lewis Libby has resigned after being indicted by a grand jury. Strangely enough the liberal media is not as ecstatic as they would like to be, they were hoping for a Karl Rove indictment or at least an indictment of criminal acts. Libby has been indicted for: obstructing justice, making false statements and perjury. I would have thought that lying under oath was now an accepted thing at least among liberals. I seem to remember a president who lied under oath and was said to be totally justified in doing so, because "Republicans were out to get him." I listened to the press conference that Prosecutor Fitzgerald held today and the only questions that the reporters asked were whether Karl Rove could somehow be indicted or if there were a chance that other administration officials could be. That sounds to me like the media out to "get someone."

Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination yesterday and the conservatives have won a victory. I don't profess to know anything about her that would make her a bad judge nor anything about her that would make her a good judge. Evangelical Christian leaders were told by White House officials that she would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade; but first Roe v. Wade would have to be brought to the table and nothing could insure that. Roe v. Wade is a cruel decision I think, but we don't need a judge who will overturn it solely on its cruelty, we need a judge (judges actually) who will overturn it for its unconstitutionality. Roe v. Wade should have been given to the American people to decided, not forced down there throats by 7 men in black robes.

The big news in politics lately has been whether or not Karl Rove will be indicted for revealing the name of a CIA Agent. VP Cheney's top advisor "Scooter" Libby is also under suspicion.
I have two things to ask the liberals as they gush over this news:
1. Why is this so important? Valerie Plame was not a covert agent. She had no reason to hide her identity any more than George Tenet (ex-CIA Director). Plame gathered intelligence, compiled it from agents in the field.
2. Valerie Plame was named as a CIA Agent in Who's Who In America (I forget which year). In the entry on Joseph Wilson, it clearly names his wife and her occupation.

I haven't said anything about Bush's nominee to replace Sandra Day O'Connor because I have been trying to learn more about her and what other people think of her. But I decided I should say something, so here it goes.
I personally would have preferred a nominee who is a known staunch conservative. President Bush was the one who interviewed the candidates and if he thinks that Harriet Meirs is the one for this spot, I cannot say otherwise, I know very little about this woman. Some conservatives are reaching the boiling point over the fact that she supported Al Gore for president in the 1988 democratic primary, I say "So what?" Zell Miller (former governor\senator from Georgia) supported Bill Clinton for president but has since proved himself a true conservative. There are times when we all do stupid things, for the Republicans it was choosing to run Bob Dole against Clinton in '96, but I digress. Whether this woman is the right person for the job or not I don't know, but I'll I hope and pray that she is.

We have the second youngest chief justice of the Supreme Court sworn in today. John Roberts Jr. has succeeded Rehnquist and we must all pray that he is a strong conservative. All the justices of the Supreme Court were there, excluding Antonin Scalia (he had a seminar in Colorado), actually I think (as does Ann Coulter) that Scalia should have been nominated for the chief justiceship. But, ah well, what's done is done. Hopefully Roberts will be a strong conservative and the next nominee also.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has had to step down from his position because he was indicted by a grand jury for conspiracy charges (the prosecutor was a democrat). But if while all this "controversy" is going on Bush can slip conservative nominees onto the Supreme Court it will all be worth it. One interesting note, while liberals get mad at conservatives for "possible" crimes, they defend their own politicians who have committed far worse crimes. President Bill Clinton lied under oath, to the American People, Senator Ted Kennedy murdered a young lady and is still holding public office, (those are the two most famous ones) the list goes on but I won't bore you any further, and the left never mentions any of that. Liberals should watch out, if we conservatives ever start playing by their rules, they will never have a future in American politics.

Just when you thought that all good news had been sucked out of the world by some evil villain (probably named Dan Rather), a light breaks through. Cindy Sheehan has been arrested! Sheehan along with a bunch of her cronies was arrested for protesting without a permit (in front of the White House), they were warned three times that they would have to move. They failed to heed this warning and now are cooling off in the police station. However all that will happen is they will have their pictures taken (knowing Mrs. Sheehan's ego she'll probably offer to autograph hers') and be fingerprinted but maybe they will stop believing in "the divine right of protestors-especially those who are family of soldiers who have died (Adam could you translate that into Latin for me).

Schiavo's Back!

Wife-killer and all-around jerk Michael Schiavo is planning on writing a book relating his side in the much discussed controversy of earlier this year. This guy can never get enough money can he? First he sues on "behalf" of his wife to get several thousand dollars, then he kills his wife to get more money from the insurance company and now he's going to write a book about it. I just hope that no publisher will publish it and leave Michael sitting in the dust where he belongs.
